We normally ship USPS Priority Mail which should be 2-day ship. Shipping is actual cost with a minimum of $30.00 for pistols and $50.00 for rifles/shotguns to ship to most of the 48 contiguous states. Shipping to Alaska may require an extra fee. This is a very nice, affordable dangerous game rifle. The Hawkeye African is designed by Ruger to be durable, easy to use, and accurate. Like all Model 77 Mark II and Hawkeye rifles, the African utilizes a non-rotating, Mauser-type controlled round feed extractor to ensure positive case extraction under the worst conditions. The bolt is made as a single piece for increased durability. The engraved floor plate is hinged for easy unloading without having to chamber each round. The latch is flush with the trigger guard to avoid accidental cartridge dumps. This Hawkeye African is chambered for the powerful .375 Ruger, a cartridge suitable for quickly neutralizing even the toughest dangerous game animals out there. The .375 Ruger utilizes a unique cartridge case designed by Hornady in cooperation with Ruger. The rimless case has a base and rim diameter of 0.532 inches, the same diameter as the belt on the belted magnum cartridges based upon the .300 H&H Magnum and .375 H&H Magnum. This allows the .375 Ruger to have a larger case capacity then the belted magnum case given cases of equal length. While the .375 H&H Magnum is certainly longer than the .375 Ruger, the latter cartridge has a 4% greater case capacity than the H&H round. The Hawkeye African is fitted with Ruger’s LC6 trigger, which has a smooth, crisp pull right out of the box. The 23-inch alloy steel barrel has a threaded muzzle using a 5/8”-18 twist by which the Ruger Muzzle Brake System is installed. The cold hammer-forged nature of the barrel results in ultra-precise rifling which provides exceptional accuracy. The rifle also sports a beautiful American Walnut stock with wrap-around checkering on the pistol grip and forearm. There are two recoil bolts installed in the stock to help absorb recoil and reduce the chance of the stock cracking over time. As with any good dangerous game rifle, the Hawkeye African sports a set of classic “Express”-style sights, with a wide angle V-notch rear sight and bead dot front sight. This sighting system allows for the quick acquisition of a target, particularly at close distances, an important consideration when dealing with dangerous game. As is usual, the receiver of the Hawkeye African features integral scope mounts machined directly into the receiver, this providing a stable mounting surface for scope rings (which are included). This rifle is new in the box.
