Description:
Magnificent cased Bowie and Dagger ensemble by Bill Bagwell. The scarce and very fine weapons cutlery set comprising 1) Bagwell Gambler's Bowie, 2) Combat Dagger, both bearing the extremely rare markings BAGWELL, VIVIAN, LA., with the sharpest, clearest stamped blades I've ever seen to date 3) original sharpening stone contained in its own cut-out. In collecting Bagwell knives for over 43 years, this is the only time I have seen such  presentation case with an imprint for a sharpening stone. Both knives have been fitted with ebony handles from Gabon, in a uniquelyshaped diamond-like design and are free of any checking or cracks at the end,(see photos) engraved brass guards by the late Wilton English, large engraved brass matching ferrule with deep grooves, brass escutcheon with fine detailed engraving with the extremely scarce "rope" motif pattern. Blade for the Gambler's Bowie is 8-1/2-inch by 1-7/8-inch in width from 3/8-inch steel stock of 1084 steel, while the Combat Dagger has an 8-5/8-inch by 1-5/8-inch width blade, constructed from the same steel stock. Both models were made with the extremely rare "roped" ricasso feature. Both knives are contained in the original cerulean dark red velvet-lined custom-made presentation oak case with brass lock. No sheath were ever made for these two knives as they are encased. All brass hardware have been cleaned . This is the only set in existence and by far the finest knife set Bill has ever produced, if not the two finest Bill Bagwell's knives ever made in carbon steel . The two knives shown in this presentation case (1969 are typical of the models Bagwell was making to equip our servicemen during the Vietnam conflict. This set is nothing else than Museum pieces, no international shipping. Free shipping UPS with tracking #, signature required and delivery confirmation. Shown in the Special Limited Numbered Collector's book Edition of only 24 copies printed worldwide, there will be no reprint(sold-out).  From a collector's standpoint this set holds historical significance as it is the only one in existence. No trade, no exchange, no refund. Sold "AS IS," all sales are final.
