This is a "poignard de chasse", "hunting poignard" solid single brass guard, rare "bois de violette" wood or violet wood, crow's beak sold brass butt cap. Extremely rare triple markings on blade: map of France, wild boar and Jean Tanazacq across the ricasso. Dark leather scabbard. Knife was completed in 1990 which is the last model received from the maker. Incidentally Jean stopped marking his blades with the map of France in 1985, but agreed to stamped that blade for a devoted client! As with all listed Jean Tanazacq's knives, this model is in a perfect, immaculate, pristine condition. All knives comes with the original record sheet and the actual model # in the case as they were fept. In this instance this is file # JT 21. The blade has the inscription of the name of the cutler "Jean Tanazacq" and a hallmark representing a wild boar and map of France. It is sold with its original strap and case. This knife is a classic whose reputation is well established and whose name was borrowed from the oak forest of Troncay, planted by Colbert, to build his naval fleet when the trees were mature.
