They are so marked in excellent script on the lockplates and in silver lettering on the top barrel flat. Drechsler was also listed as working in Hanover. The barrel length is 9.5"" and the pistols are 14.5"" overall. The barrels are slightly swamped (flared) at the muzzles. The excellent bores are approx. 50 cailber and are multi-groove rifled. Apparently no expense was spared in the construction of this fine pair of pistols as they are fitted with nipple safety protectors to prevent accidental discharge. The nipple safety protectors function on a roller which is driven by what would be the frizzzen spring on a flintlock action. The pistols are silver mounted and have fine silver wire inlays in the stocks. The butts are inlaid with an oval silver disc with an heraldic device of an iron cross surmounted in the form of a shield with the tip of a pike in the center of the shield and with a feather adorned crown above. The locks function perfectly. The stocks are perfect with no cracks, chips, or gouges. The stocks have a fine checkered grip and are excellent with only verey light handling wear. The triggers can be set by pushing forward to enable a light trigger pull. These are handsome officers pistols and are a pleasure to hold in your hands. We estimate these pistols to have been made in approx. 1800 to 1850. These pistols are fit for the finest collection. Price: $5,500.00 Antique: Yes |
