Early and rare 1960 (boss code 11L) pre-mil Savage 99E 300 Savage (serial # 968931), with cartridge counter and 24" barrel, made just before the model 99E (economy rife) came along and lost it's cartridge counter window on the left side of the receiver. After a phone conversation with David Royal, author of "A Collector's Guide to the Savage 99 Rife", I learned that only about 10 of these 99Es have surfaced so far, so you may want to call it a very rare rifle instead. You can read Mr. Royal's information on this particular rifle on the top half of page 91 of his book, see my picture of this information. It has all matching parts by assembly number and the action locks up tight. Overall it is in very good condition with a shiny bore. Don't let this opportunity get away from you.
