Description:
"NSN, circa 1840-1860, .65 caliber, 36"" octagonal to round pinned in barrel. Barrel has two proof marked stamped between ""* RE"". Barrel and other iron parts are a dark brown/grey patina with scattered oxidation noted. Lock plate is unmarked, action holds at half and full cock. Stock has be lightly refinished at some point. Oversize trigger guard and serpent side plate are indicative of trade musket. A small turtle design has been nailed into the stock just forward of the trigger guard.
