Description:
This is the Model 1909 Bayonet and Scabbard for the Argentine cavalry carbine model 1909. The bayonet measures 21 inches overall with a 15 ¾ inch blade marked "Modelo Argentino 1909" over the full Argentinian crest and serial number "A5099" with "Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Co. Solingen" on the reverse. This is a second model with 1 ½ inches from the back of the blade to the center of the barrel ring. The blade is bright from a later polish showing patches of pitting along the edge and in the fullers with a slightly blunted tip with the steel crossguard and pommel showing light freckling. The wood grips have darkened with age and have numerous scratches and nicks. The steel scabbard with leather frog has matching numbers above the stud with several small dents and is now mostly faded to a silver-gray appearance. A very nice bayonet with the scarce full Argentine Crest.
