G" In Nice Untouched Condition. The canteen is finely period painted as shown in the photos. It has a great look to it and identifies him completely. It is painted in two different colors which adds to its desirability. It comes with his history. Benjamin Franklin Pursell enlisted on 8/6/1862 and on 8/19/1862 mustered in to "Co. G, N.Y. 1st Dragoons. He mustered out on 6/30/1865 . His regiment had a fine history. The regiment lost 126 men and 4 officers in battle. They fought the entire war in VA. and were in 94 skirmishes and battles. These included Deserted House VA., Manassas VA, Todd's Tavern VA, Yellow Tavern VA, Cold Harbor VA, Trevillian Station VA, Petersburg, Deep Bottom, Newtown, Shepherdstown, Smithfield, Opequan, Winchester, New Market, Cedar Creek, Five Forks, & Appomattox Court House, VA.
