Description:
The M1917 cartridge belt was constructed with ten pouches, which could hold a total of twenty 5-round stripper clips of 30-06 ammunition for the M1903 Springfield or the M1917 Enfield rifle. It was used by US soldiers of the American Expeditionary Force when they fought in World War I and continued to be used by our military after the Great War.

The M1917 cartridge belt shown here was made by L.C.C.&Co. in 1918.  The dates are well marked.  The belt shows some wear and the fabric of the canvas pouches is fragile.  The snap fastner on one pouch is partially torn loose as can be seen in the last photo but it does not show when the belt is on display.  I would advise against attempting to open any of the pouches.  This belt will display well with a World War I doughboy uniform, an M1903 or M1917 rifle, or by itself.
