Description:
For Sale is a very nice Original Mannlicher Schoenauer Model 1950 bolt-action rifle Made in Austria and chambered in "KAL. 30-06".  The low serial number, 4130, puts production sometime in the early 1950's.  This classic rifle sports a 23.5" barrel with a very good bore and strong rifling.  It has a double-leaf rear sight with the flip-up leaf marked "300" and a ramped front sight.  There are a few scratches at the base of the front sight, most likely from the hood being removed to accomodate a scope.  The rifle is equipped with a vintage Pachmayr Lo-Swing scope mount supporting an equally vintage Weaver K2.5 scope, both of which were made in the USA.  Both scope and mount show some finish wear, but everything, including scope adjustments, functions very well.  This rifle also sports the straight-style "butter knife" bolt handle, which is very appropriate because the action on this gun is smooth as butter.  The floor plate of the 5-shot rotary magazine is marked "STOEGER ARMS CORPORATION NEW-YORK" which is most likely who imported the rifle from Austria.  The rotary magazine (copied by Savage in their Model 99) has a push-button release that allows the floor plate to turn 90 degrees which then lets the entire magazine box and floor plate eject from the rifle.  Another very cool feature is the push-button on the receiver bridge alongside the bolt.  When the bolt is opened and the button is depressed, a full magazine will empty its cartridges coming up and out of the magazine, defying gravity.  The beautiful checkered walnut stock with black forend cap, coved pistol grip cap, and right-hand cheek piece presents very well but does have some small scratches and dings showing signs of use.  I would rate the bluing at about 85% with some light scratches and finish wear along the receiver and barrel.  The bolt handle, trigger guard, and magazine floor plate also have some light finish wear, as to be expected for a rifle of this age.  The sling swivels and all of the screw heads are clean and in very good condition.  L.O.P. is 14.5" over a very nice Pachmayr vented rubber recoil pad.  This rifle is very accurate and would make an excellent addition to any collection.  Feel free to call or text with any questions or for more pictures.
