"This Henry was commissioned by my Father before his passing with the goal being a high art piece. He was torn between having an original Henry engraved or having it done on a modern gun that could be fired. He finally settled on a modern firearm as the canvas because he could not handle seeing an original Henry altered in this way. The engraver wrote a 2 page letter explaining her thoughts and processes during the engraving. She was so deeply involved in the project that she even had one of the engravings tattooed on her shoulder (which is pictured in the group of photos). As you gaze over the firearm multiple times you seem to find new intricate details with every pass. It really is something you need to hold in your hands to fully appreciate.
