It was made in 1879 as part of the Turkish contract. Some of these rifles were never shipped and I think this is one that was made into a sporter/hunting rifle. The Makers markings on the side of the receiver are clear, on the opposite side is an Arabic stamp for “1879”. The bore is perfect and this rifle shoots quite well. It is an antique and should not be fired with modern smokeless 45-70 cartridges. It did shoot quite well with Black Hills 209 using a 540 gr Postell bullet. Barrel is 28” long. Sights look as if they were made by Montana Vintage Arms. The front sight is windage adjustable. Let me know if you have any questions. Shipping will be via Fedex . VISA/MC accepted with the 3% convenience fee. No Postal money orders. Strength and Honor! Price: $2,400.00 |
