Description:
This is a Remington Model 31 US Military Contract 12 Gauge shotgun. It has its "Flaming Bomb" and RLB proofmark on the left side of the receiver, close to the buttstock. According to Canfield's book, this is one of 8,999 Remingtons that went to war or training purposes.
It has a solid rib barrel with improved cylinder choke and original Cutts Compensator installed. Barrel length is 27" to end of Cutts Choke Tube.
Included would be the original Cutts Choke Wrench. All metal parts, including Cutts compensator and choke, are parkerized.
Stock has checkering and a fair amount of wear. We believe the rubber pad installed not to be original and in degraded condition. Length of pull is 13 3/4" and maintains its original curved profile. Therefore, we deduce it not to be cut, and could be restored with original buttpad. We also see old repair at the wrist on only the left side.
