Description:
This is an outstanding US M1873 Trapdoor Socket Bayonet with original scabbard and frog. This bayonet is marked US and above MASS. The 18" blade retains 85-90% of the original bluing with US under MASS on the ricasso and blade is nearly free of any imperfections, only light marks from age with light oxidation. The tip shows minor wear and slight impact with slight deflection. The 3" socket is in excellent condition with light marks from use and light oxidation. The excellent scabbard retains a great deal of the original bluing with some oxidation, tiny scratches on a dent free surface. This comes with a leather and brass frog in very good condition with MASS on a stippled brass casting with some scattered verdigris, tight stitching and a fine patina.
