VERY FINE TENNESSEE PENNSYLVANIA OR KENTUCKY STYLE PERCUSSION LONG RIFLE SIGNED S. SHAW CIRCA 1850’S. 59” o/a with 43” octagon .38 cal. rifled barrel signed clearly in script on the top flat “S. SHAW”. Original nickel blade front sight and Rocky Mountain original rear sight. Tiger maple stock in the Tennessee manner with plain butt and no side plate. Brass trigger guard and ramrod pipes and double set triggers. Excellent original condition with dark patinated finish on the metal and the original stock finish with lovely handling patina. Working order and good bore with well defined rifling. Shaw is listed in both Seller’s “AMERICAN GUNSMITHS” and in Gluckman and Satterlee’s “AMERICAN GUN MAKERS” as S. & J. Shaw, Tennessee percussion longrifle maker. Exceptionally nice all original Tennessee Longrifle.
