Description:
This is a partial box, 7 rounds, of .40-70 Straight Shell ammunition marked "For Remington Rifle" and listed as 330 grain on the top label with the side label grain neatly inked out and with hand written "265" for the Grooved bullet weight. The early two piece Union Metallic Cartridge Company box shows overall age soiling but is solid with intact top "that may have been glued) and side labels. The cartridges all are head stamped "U.M.C. 40-70 S H" and in excellent condition with brass case measuring 2 1/2 inches and paper patched lead bullets.
