Description:
Officially designated “Colt Automatic Pistol, Caliber .22 Target Model" when production began in 1915, this is a wonderfully preserved example of Colt’s entry into the world of rimfire target shooting, for the casual “plinker” and for the competitor. This was produced in 1921 before Colt began adding the name “WOODSMAN”
Features include: polished blue finish, original pencil barrel at 6.25 inches, factory magazine with two line stamp “CAL. 22” & “COLT”, checkered diamond walnut grip panels, checkered safety lock lever. The slide, magazine release and all function and are in working order with a nice clean bore.
Grip checkering is strong without the flat tips and other indications of wear and use. Bluing is good. Light marks from age and wear. Very light muzzle bluing wear at edges.
Manufactured in 1921 as a “Pre-Woodsman”, according to the Colt serial number database.
This is a beautiful pre-war example of fine Colt craftsmanship and a real treasure to own.
