Description:
This is a "U.S. Springfield" marked "1864" lock plate for the Allen conversion to trapdoor rifle. The outside of the plate has been cleaned shows area of light corrosion. Four of the screw holes are clean with crisp threads and the fifth has the remains of an old screw that needs to be removed. The inside of the plate is in very good condition with the original metal finish, minor corrosion and all of the original proof marks. Included is a retainer saddle piece that has a 1/8" crack.;
