1917 DWM Artillery Luger, also known as an LP-08. DWM for "Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken" or German Weapons and Munitions Manufacturer. LP-08 stands for "Lang Pistole 1908" or Long Pistol, Model 1908.
German DWM (Deutsche Waffen Munitions) 1917 Artillery Luger Semi Automatic 9mm in Very Good condition throughout.
Pistol - 9mm, 8" bbl, SN 5237. 90% blue finish shows thinning on most edges and loss on side plate, very good bore with prominent lands and groves, matching numbers on frame, barrel, inside of grips and all visable markings,
This is an excellent example of a DWM Artillery Luger issued in 1917. Comes with three non-matching magazines. Fitted with a very good set of matching numbered wood grips. The bore has very good rifling with a bright bore.
Fitted with what appears to be a presentation crest on the left grip with faint characters and with an Eagle.
The adoption of the Lange Pistole 08 or LP 08, known as the "Artillery Luger", was authorised by the Kaiser on 2 July 1913. This P08 variation was equipped with a 200 mm (7.9 in) barrel, an 8-position tangent rear sight (calibrated to 800 meters (870 yd)). When set for long range use the rear sight element visibly moves to the left to compensate for spin drift.
