The flat spring action is tight and has a crisp trigger and functioning half cock. The sights are a ramped front blade and a Krag adjustable rear sight. The metal finish is starting to slightly turn plum brown but shows very few mars or scratches. The rear tang has two filled extra holes drilled to accomodate some rear sight which was incorrect. The two band musket stocks are in good condition with a few light dings and bruises but no cracks or splits. The top rear of the buttstock is stamped 71 NY (pictured) which is the unit to which this was originally issued. The worst spots are the cleaning rod slot which is probably where the shooter was resting the forearm when practicing. The gun was serialized on December 28, 1905 so is considered a modern firearm and must be transferred to a FFL or C&R licensee. Insure your FFL will accept a transfer from a private individual.
