Shipping is actual cost with a minimum of $30.00 for pistols and $50.00 for rifles/shotguns to ship to most of the 48 contiguous states. Shipping to Alaska may require an extra fee. Description:
The Hellion is Springfield’s new entry to the bullpup rifle market. It is based upon the combat-tested VHS-2 bullpup rifle used by Croatian armed forces in difficult environments ranging from Iraq to Africa. Bullpup rifles are desirable in that by putting the action and magazine behind the pistol grip and trigger unit, the overall length of the bullpup compared to a rifle with a conventional layout is that the former is much shorter than the latter while still having the same barrel length. For example, while Springfield’s own Saint Victor rifle has a MINIMUM length of 32.25 inches, the Hellion has MAXIMUM length of 29.75 inches. Its minimum length is 28.25 inches, a full four inches shorter than the Saint. The shorter length allows the user to maneuver the Hellion around corners more easily. The Hellion has several user-friendly features designed to maximize its usefulness as a home defense rifle. It has fully integrated flip-up sights built into the top rail. The rear sight features a 5-position aperture which is adjustable for windage. The front sight is the usual post type with adjustability for elevation, much like the front sight on an AR-15. The long top rail is itself a picatinny rail, allowing the user to mount any scope or optic of their choosing. All of the Hellion’s controls, from the magazine release to the charging handle, are fully ambidextrous. The rifle can even be switched from right to left-side ejection. The fore end is M-Lok compatible. The stock is adjustable and has five possible positions. The gas system is adjustable and has two positions: one for normal ammunition (denoted as “N”), and one for subsonic ammunition (denoted as “S”). The Hellion shown here is part of the Gear Up Package. It comes with comes with two Magpul PMAG 30-round magazines instead of the usual one, a Vortex Crossfire red dot sight, and a Max-Ops A-Tac single-point sling. The Crossfire red dot has 2 MOA capability and features 11 regular light settings, plus 2 night vision settings. This rifle is new in the box and ready to go.
