Description:
Serial #18959, .38 WCF (.38-40), 7 1/2" barrel with a very good bore that has some freckling and mild pitting within the grooves. This is a 1907-made revolver that retains about 50-60% of the original bright blue finish with the balance faded to a mottled plum-brown or pewter gray patina. Thin pinprick pitting is also present on the face of the cylinder. The cylinder is also serial numbered to a different gun . The hammer and trigger have a good amount of the original, bright fire blue remaining, with the balance turned to lightly freckled gray. A large "S" stamp is present on the left side of the frame, just below the cylinder, and is repeated on the inside of the crane cut. The revolver is fitted with period, genuine mother-of-pearl grips that have a silver bolster on the right panel with a previous owner's initials engraved: "C.M." The grips are in very good condition, with mild age-toning on both panels, as well as some very minor chips and handling marks. The lock-up is tight, and the action functions flawlessly. This was a well-used, but well-looked after revolver that no doubt served its owner well, and is in about very good condition overall. FFL or C&R
