A factory letter accompanies this investment grade rare 3rd Model .22 Single Shot confirming the configuration and detailing its original shipment on June 24, 1911 to the J A Johnston Company in Pittsburgh, PA. The gun is formerly of the Ralph Tremaine collection and two factory letters bear the same name. Knowledgeable collectors are aware of the extreme rarity of special ordered barrel lengths in the 3rd Model Single Shot series, with the 8" being the most sought after; doubly so in the early bright polished blue finish. This awesome example retains 99% of the original blue finish showing only the faintest of collector type handling evidence and aging. The original gold medallion two screw extension target stocks are every bit as crisp as the gun itself, with wonderful grain and figure pattern. Overall a top-shelf and rarely encountered Single Shot that will take years and years to ever find again.
