Description:
US Model 1816 converted by Remington national to the Maynard tape primer system prior to the Civil War. The functioning lock is marked Remington Ilion N.Y.1856 U.S.. The tape primer system appears complete and functions. The full 3 band Dark walnut stock is in good condition but has a filler repair at the but plate. The but plate has heavy pitting. The 42 inch barrel is rifled with front and rear sights and the tang is marked 185 B 62. All metal parts are a grey brown color. The musket is complete with sling swivels and ramrod.
