This is a great looking pistol that has most of an old, reapplied blue finish remaining, turning to an overall smooth plum-brown patina with scattered small spots of freckling and very mild surface oxidation scattered about. The frame, hammer, and trigger guard have crisp floral scrollwork engraving, while the barrel cluster has equally crisp London proofs. An original leaf-shaped, angular blade, 3 1/8" long and having three smooth, unground faces, is mounted to the center of the barrel cluster at the muzzles. The blade is finished in-the-white, and has developed a slightly mottled, pewter gray patina over time. There is no maker’s marking, and the backstrap is simply marked: "LONDON." The grip has nicely burled walnut panels with extremely fine checkering, and exhibits only minor wear and flattening of the points. The action is tight and functions flawlessly. This is a great-looking British pepperbox, with an extremely rare accessory, and is in fine-near excellent overall condition. Antique Price: $3,195.00 Antique: Yes |
