About Us: I am not a dealer and I do not have an FFL. I am an old codger paring down my accumulation of guns - some collectable, some nostalgic, some good shooters and some just cool, or at least I thought so when I bought them. Please check out my other listings. Reasonable offers considered. If you're interested, let's talk. A signed FFL copy is required for all modern firearms, and shipment will be made through an FFL dealer. Thank you for your interest.

Description:
This Colt 1911 Commercial Government Model is in extraordinary condition for a pistol over 100 years old.  Please examine the photos carefully.  It was impossible to eliminate reflection entirely, so examine from several angles to distinguish reflection from blue wear.  There is very slight edge wear on the slide at the muzzle, and the only blemish is a light takedown scratch.  The correct flat mainspring housing is starting to gray, and the front strap shows minimal if any discernable wear.  The original checkered walnut diamond grips are crisp, and the magazine is the correct two-tone type.  The only mark on the barrel is a very small serif "P"  on the underside ahead of the link.  The bore is lightly frosted with good rifling.

Again, please examine the photos carefully.  Please call or text if you would like additional photos. I have learned the hard way to be skeptical if the finish looks "too good", but the lettering is crisp, the edges are sharp, and I see no indications of rebluing. And although I have an extensive reference library, I have not been able to rule out the barrel proof as correct for this serial number range. I believe this pistol is original, and as such, it is very collectable and difficult to upgrade.
