Pristine 1909 Peruvian with a twist. NOW with original old/ new stock Blackburn bottom metal for 7x57 or similar cartridges.These large, long ring, small thread short box actions ( perfect for 7x57 in their original configuration ) are unique in that they will take a standard 98 bottom metal if you deside on a longer 30-06 size cartridge. ( ramp or throat would have to be opened up ) The ring can be shortened back to std. 98 ring length and the large ring can be ground down to the 1.3 dia. Of a small ring.
LOOK CLOSELY , you will see the original small diameter ( .980 Mauser thread ) have been removed and 1.100 diameter 8 threads per inch ACME type threads have been very nicely machined in. Face of inside torque shoulder and outside face of receiver all trued together.
All this work was done for a precise, very strong take down rifle system. Leave the internal threads as they are or remove half for a " quarter turn take down", as in the included photos. Legendary Hartmann&Weiss used these actions for their smaller takedown systems.
Included in these photos is very extensive 2 barrel take down rifle I built 30 years ago using this system in caliber 30-06 and 425 Westley Richard's . With a properly fit barrel, you will wear out before the threads do.
These actions are annealed and will need to be re- heat treated.
