Description:

Full custom 7mm Remington Magnum by the late McKinley Vern "High" Highsmith of Memphis, TN with a 23" barrel with banded ramp front sight, banded sling stud, and integral island rear sight with one standing leaf. Bore is excellent. Built on a rare 1933 Oberndorf Mauser Double Square Bridge factory sporting rifle action with a Zeiss Diavari-Z 30mm 1.5x6x42 rail mount scope in claw mounts. Original Oberndorf bottom metal wth double set triggers and trigger bow floorplate release. Stocked in a very nice piece of English Walnut with strong mineral streaking and extensive fiddleback figure. Point pattern checkering that is over the top on the grip and wraps the forend. Shadow line pancake cheekpiece and steel pistol grip cap.  LOP is 14 1/8" to a soft Silver's pad with widows peak. Weight is 10lb 3oz as scoped.
This is a wonderful piece on a highly desirable action that shows only minimal use. It remains in very good condition with the floorplate and trigger guard retaining the factory Mauser blue with some wear and "Germany" stamped on the floorplate. Mr. Highsmith was a highly regarded Memphis gunmaker who built his first muzzleloader at age 9 and began his professional career as a Navy armorer and shooting instructor immediately following Pearl Harbor. He passed in 2013 at age 91.
