Description:
Colt no longer makes this LE/Gov't/Military restricted M4 carbine, and they most likely never will, since it was sold to CZ. Colt reported that the shipping date based on the serial number was 2003. The 6922 was based on the 6920, except that the 16 inch barrel was rifled 1/9 instead of the 1/7 of the 6920. At the time, it was available to anyone that could legally buy it, but most went to police departments. The volume of production was not high, lasting only a few years before demand resulted in a cessation of production. Some of these, not many, were sold to the public by Specialized Armament (://specializedarmament/ar-15-upper-receiver-groups/upper-receiver-group-colt-le6922-1/9) as uppers, as this one is, and then fitted with a serial numbered lower that closely matches the barrel date on the upper. The 1/9 twist rate gives some versatility to the shooter, from the 55 grain up to about 75 grain, depending on velocity. The versatility of bullet weights can also lead to the accuracy that budget-minded police departments require, and hand loaders look for. The rifle is in excellent condition overall, with only a minimum of signs of use confined to the lower. These are scarcely seen, even as agency turn-ins, due to their M4 reliability.
