Description:
Colt lightning large frame rifle in 45-60-300 caliber. This is the rarest caliber that colt chambered in the lightning rifle, and the large frame lightning rifle (approximatly 4600 total production) had the fewest rifles manufacture only 8% of the large frame rifles where chambered in this caliber making it about 1 of 400 or less. Rifle has a 3 digit serial number making it likely a first year production gun. Rifle is in great shape for its age, it shows a large percentage of blue on the barrel and about 30% blue on the receiver. the rampant colt stamp on the receiver is in very good shape and shows little wear. the butt stock finish apeards to be original and 90% + there with less than normal wear. the forend shows an old repair with all of the wood there and still has good checkering. the bore is brite with no major pitting. Gun functions and shoot like it wes designed, the owner has shot the gun and states that it shoots well. The receiver and barrel have been stamped with
G A C , the stamping is shallow and was done many years ago making me believe that it was previously owned by a bank, security company or something of the sort. all in all this is a fine example of a rather rare colt lightning rifle
