Description:
1940 Smith & Wesson Non-Registered Magnum with a 6.5 inch barrel and factory original bright blue finish. It does have a registration number 4694, but it is indeed a Non-Registered Magnum. This is the finest Pre-War S&W 357 Magnum that we have ever had in the shop. It is also extensively documented. Per the included factory letter it was shipped to the Ship's Service Store, U.S. Naval Air Station, Coco Solo, Canal Zone. It also retains copies of the factory order sheets as seen in the first photos. Also included is it correct and authentic factory box with no white sticker on the bottom. This is a no excuses collector grade gun. All numbers match on the frame, cylinder, barrel and grips. The original finish still retains all of its deep dark shine throughout. The grip straps are exceptional. As seen in the photos it only shows the very slightest of superficial handling and overall the finish rates a very strong 99% +. Please excuse some oil in the photos as we only lightly wiped it down. The cylinder face, recoil shield, and forcing cone are very clean. The action is crisp, the lock up is tight, and the boar is bright and shiny with strong lands and grooves. The factory grips are exceptional with sharp checkers throughout. Upgrading this one will be nearly impossible.
