Description:
This is a scarce forend and barrel band for the US Navy Model 1867 Rolling Block Carbine. Produced form 1868 to 1869 there were only 5095 produced. Interestingly there is an inspector cartouche on the right side just ahead of where the wood meets the receiver. This oil finished walnut forend measures 9 1/2". It is in very good to excellent condition with only a few minor handling marks and one split with the grain along the top left of mid way down and extends about an inch. The iron barrel band marked "u" and retaining clip are in very good condition with the metal now a plum pewter color with scattered areas of mild freckling. A very hard to find part that is in great condition.;
