This is a 1926-made revolver that has retained 50-60% of the original blue finish, with the balance worn to bright gray through years of service. The checkered hard rubber COLT grips are in very good shape, with minor handling marks, flattening of the points, and a small chip at the heel on the left panel. The backstrap is marked "AM. RY. EXP." in block letters. The revolver still locks up tightly, and the action functions flawlessly. The revolver is housed in an original REA holster with "RAILWAY EXPRESS / AGENCY" stamp on the cover flap. The leather has some minor scuffs and wear commensurate with years of use, but the leather is still supple and fully serviceable. Also included is an REA retirement tag, dated November 4, 1963. The previous owner inherited this gun from his uncle, an REA employee, who received it as a gift upon his retirement. This is a very good example of an express agency-used Colt, with desirable extras, and would make a great addition to any collection. FFL or C&R Price: $1,295.00 Curio/Relic: Yes |
