Description:
Up for your review is a very nice basically mint USFA short barreled .45 Colt caliber bird's head grip single action pistol.  These guns came into being under the influence of Mr.Douglas Donnelly in1993.  He first began his business by importing Uberti single action replicas but very quickly decided to produce his own replicas in the U.S. in an effort to provide our interested population with a really high quality repoduction of the iconic Colt pistol.  This he did in spades so to speak.  At that time the interest in cowboy action shooting  was well underway and those persons in that game who wanted the best shootable single action pistol certainly took a close look at the U.S.F.A. gun.  Mr Donnelly's company produced at least in my mind the absolute best of the replica pistols but for what ever reason the company stopped their production in 2012.  This most likely was due at least in part to the cost of producing these high quality guns in competition with the many much cheaper Italian pistols.  Regardless, since 2012 these guns have not been on the production line.  The one here up for consideration was produced in the late 1990's and was fired several times to align the sights but when the comfortable accurate load chosen was found to be shooting a bit low but correct left to right the gun was sent back to the company to slightly lower the front sight.  This was done in a most professional manner and since that time the gun has never been fired.  It will shoot to point of aim using 230 grain round nosed cast bullets in front of 8 grains of Unique powder.  The only blemish that I can see on the pistol presently is slight loss of the bluing on the cylinder face which was a result of adjusting the point of aim by both the factory and myself.  The company paper indicating their effort to alter the front sight and all other papers that came with the pistol when I bought it back then as well as the box it came in will accompany the pistol's sale.  As far as condition is concerned I would consider it in a basically mint circumstance with very nice engraving by Dennis Kies covering about 50% of the grip frame, case hardened frame and barrel.  It has 99% or more of the original bluing present and the lock up is as it was when new.  All the cylinders line up exactly with the bore when in the cocked position and the trigger is crisp releasing at 3 pounds consistently.  The grips show no marks and there is early yellowing as you would expect after more than 25 years of aging. It has never seen a holster so no muzzle wear is in evidence.  The bore is mint and the case hardened frame shows the typical attractive blue-green dark coloration when this type of finish is provided properly on any firearm.  Hopefully my pictures will confirm what you have just read but if questions arrise I'll try to answer them through the G.I. site or via the telephone.  Thanks much for your interest so far.
