Description:
1876 VICTORIAN LONDON .22 Short 7-Shot Revolver COLT New Line CASED Antique

Fine Blued & Nickel Rosewood in Oaken & Brass Case

Here we present an antique London Agency Cased Etched Panel Colt New Line .22 Caliber Revolver, made in 1876 in Hartford, Connecticut. The “New Line” was a single action pocket revolver introduced by the Colt’s Patent Fire Arms Manufacturing Company in 1873 and continued through 1884, with the .22 caliber being manufactured between 1873 and 1877 with a total of roughly 55,343 being manufactured.

Two years after the Colt House Revolver, a year after the Colt Open Top, and almost simultaneously alongside the Colt Peacemaker, the Colt New Line was one of the first metallic cartridge, rear-loading revolvers manufactured by Colt. It was designed to be a handy pocket-carry revolver, chambered in .22 rimfire, which was very popular for self-defense in these days.

The revolver features 7 shots of .22 rimfire. Of all the Colt “New Line” revolvers made, the .22 caliber was the only one featuring a 7 shot cylinder. All other calibers utilized a 5-shot cylinder. Patent dates are on the bottom of the barrel.

The overall condition is fine. Original blue and nickel finish. Matching numbers. The action is excellent and the bore is in good shape with nice rifling. The rosewood grips are solid. The oak case is in fine condition.

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrel is 2-1/4 inches.

Caliber: .22 Rimfire (short, black powder)

Overall condition as seen in photos.
