Description:
Serial #75461, 12mm Pin Fire, 6 ¼ inch barrel with a near excellent bore with strong rifling. This is the Model 1854 revolver manufactured in Paris by E. Lefaucheux marked on the barrel top "Ivon E. Lefaucheux BRte S.G.D.G. A Paris" with same wording in an oval on the left side of the frame and "LF" logo on the right ahead of the serial number. These single action revolvers were very advanced for the time period, utilizing self contained metallic cartridges that were very weather resistant and easy to load, many exported to the US and seeing use in the Civil War. In very fine overall condition the metal surfaces retain about 25-30% original blue finish mostly on the cylinder and forward elements of the frame with overall light pitting and metal surfaces toning to pewter gray. The hardwood grips are solid with old surface marks and very shallow contusions. All numbered parts have matching batch numbers. Mechanically it functions properly holding at half and full cock with proper timing and tight lock up. A very nice example of the innovative E. Lefaucheux pin fire revolver that would be a welcome addition to any Civil War or Pin Fire collection. Antique.
