NSN, made in 1838, .54 caliber, 8.5"" round smoothbore barrel. Barrel and other iron parts are a freckled brown/grey patina, barrel is marked ""US/NWP/P"". Stock has expected handling and usage wear with dings and scratches. Two noticeable cracks are noted, one being on the left side from the front end of the side plate to the barrel band. 2nd crack starts from the bolster to just past the rear of the lock plate. Lock plate is marked ""US/R.JOHNSON/MIDLtn.CONN/1838"". Nipple has been removed, action does not hold. Consignment.
