Description:
COGSWELL & HARRISON, 20 b., EARLY "VICTOR" MODEL, MADE IN 1880 (Victor Models first introduced in 1879).
This is a Scott patented back-action "Victor" full sidelock ; likely one of the first made in this small gauge which is rare in any English shotgun.
Original Damascus barrels have updated "BNP" nitro proofs (see pix) and measure 28-1/8", have 2-1/2" chambers, and are in
excellent condition inside and out.  Min. barrel-wall thicknesses are at least 20 thousandths at the very IC/IC muzzle, where there is
little pressure. Then graduating to 30 and much greater when measuring towards the chambers.
Nevertheless, I have always shot low pressure RST cartridges in all my guns -- and since this one was built in 1880 it has been fed with black powder
and obviously cleaned well, for at least a many years prior to my 20 years as owner ...it has been with me since I purchased it from Holt's in England --- this
gun has been void of the black powder and babied throughout its Nitro years !
English stock has:  14-3/8" LOP, 1-1/2" DAC; 2" DAH.  This gun weighs 5lb.-10 Oz. and is originally cased with label and letter.

We have published many articles and photos of Cogswell & Harrison guns throughout our 32 years in publication, and
you can find all those articles, photos, and mentions--plus much more new never published- reading  in our hardbound
Double Gun Journal Index & Readers.
The one Cogswell & Harrison article that stands out for me was written by Geoffroy Boothroyd (James Bond's Armourer To The Queen).

Note to buyer:  Two new pix show cocking rods shown retracted and extended for barreling.  Letter indicates my
first inquiries made in 2000, concerning monogram "CHC" on case -- no name found in records due to factory fire --
no proof found that this gun was made for a "Churchill ".  Price removed as per buyer's request.
Oh, and this gun has a 1/2" cast off.                                                                                                                                      Publisher, DGJ
