"Serial Number 1000. Circa late 1880s to 1890s. 38 Centerfire Caliber with a 3 ¼" barrel. Gun is beautifully factory engraved. Our first thought was the engraving was the hand of L.D. Nimschke, but no pulls were found in his engraving book. The engraving is nice and sharp and is much better than you typically find. The metal does not have any original finish and is a light gray patina with spots of light pitting. Grips are excellent. Very fine example of a Marlin Standard 1878 Pocket!
