“S.D.IV.1438” Marked WWI Sidearm w/ WWII HOLSTER
Here we present a C&R World War I Double Dated “1915” & “1920” DWM (Deutsche Waffen-und Munitionsfabriken) Pistole Parabellum P.08 Luger Police Pistol, originally made in 1915 by DWM in Berlin, Germany.
The top of the chamber is dated “1915” with a date of “1920” which is indicative of this German Luger having been returned to inventory after the war where it was reworked and reissued for further use. The top of the toggle is marked “DWM”. The right side of the barrel extension has the three “Crown/Script” proofs next to the Imperial Eagle proof. There is also an artillery sight notch on the receiver with police safeties installed. The front strap has “S.D.IV.1438 stamped in the grip indicating “Dusseldorf Schutzpolizei” and a 1936 Dated Auwaerter & Bubeck holster that is “WaA101” Waffenamt marked. This
The overall condition is fine. Original finish. The action is excellent. The bore is bright with sharp rifling. The grips are solid with sharp checkering. Numbers match throughout. The holster is in fine condition with clear markings and a name lightly scratched into the flap of the holster. There is an import marking on the underside of the barrel.
