Description:

Full custom Mauser in .338 Winchester with a 24" barrel with banded ramp front sight, banded sling stud, and quarter rib with three folding leaves. Built on a Mauser 98 action which has been surface ground to remove all markings and charger hump removed. Action features include custom bolt handle, serrated bolt release, and custom bases with Leanard Brownell rings. Also with a Timney fully adjustable trigger and custom drop box bottom metal with straddle floorplate and trigger bow release. Stocked in a very nice piece of English Walnut with rich color and darkly contrasting lines. Stock features include a shadow line cheek piece, vacant stock oval, ebony forend tip, steel pistol grip cap, and well executed point pattern checkering with mullered border.  LOP is 14 1/2" to a Decelerator pad.   8lb 11oz with rings but no scope.
This is an extremely nice piece that has every appearance of being a George Beitzinger gun. I believe that it is but can't say with absolute certainty. Mr. Beitzinger was a gunmaker with the firm of Griffin & Howe for many years before opening his own shop in Queens, New York. He is now retired. The quarter rib style and cheekpiece and forend contour of this gun have strong G&H influence typical of Beitzinger guns. It is a very well done piece with many nice custom features. Blue remains at 98-99%  Stock has mild scattered blemishes from carefull use. It appears to have been hunted very little if at all. Excellent value. The maker not known with certainty and priced accordingly.
