Description:

Webley & Scott Model 700 12 Gauge produced in 1947 for the English market with 28" dovetail lump ejector barrels with a smooth concave game rib with a Silver front bead. Barrels remain in proof with 2 1/2 " chambers and bores measuring .730 right and .731 left. Proved for 1 1/8 0z shot. Chokes measure  .014 [Tight IC] right and .029 [Imp. Mod] left. Receiver with 40% coverage British scroll engraving and retains 85% vivid case colors. Ejectors strong and well timed. Double triggers. Straight grip buttstock with serrated wood butt and vacant stock oval. Splinter forend with Anson release. Stock finish remains at 94% with a few scuffs from very light hunting use. Checkering at 98%   LOP-14 1/2"   DAC-1 1/2"   DAH-2 1/8"   Cast off approximately 1/4" for the right hand.  6lb 9oz
This is an extremely nice piece from the well respected  firm of Webley & Scott built in the early post-War years when quality remained at the highest level. It retains 97% barrel and trigger guard blue. It is tight and on face. Barrels ring like a chime. Both forend and buttstock are solid and without repairs. This piece appears to be all original with no signs of refinish. Cased in a period correct English canvas and leather trunk case which shows wear on the outside but very nice on the inside. This gun has obviously been well cared for and only lightly hunted over its 75 years and is good to go for another 75.
