Description:
Serial #448, .41 Volcanic, 16 1/2" octagon barrel with a very good bore that has light-moderate pitting within the grooves. This is a handsome pistol that has matching numbers on the frame, grip panels, lever, both sideplates, and on the toggle links. The barrel and magazine tube retain traces of the original blue on a few protected areas, with the balance turned to a smooth plum-brown patina that has thin silvering at the muzzle, as well as along the edges of the barrel facets. The brass frame has a mellow ochre patina throughout, with some minor impact marks scattered about, as well as two short stress cracks on either side of the hammer at the wrist juncture. The lifter, hammer, and lever have developed a predominantly mottled gray-brown patina over time. The walnut grips are both numbered to the gun on the interior, and are in about good shape with handling marks and small bruises present in the original finish. Additionally, the tops of both panels have worn and there are now some uneven gaps where they meet the frame, with some hairline vertical stress cracks running up from the toe on either side. The action of the pistol is tight and fully functional. The detachable shoulder stock is no longer present, but the thumbscrew stock anchor is still present. This is a very desirable Volcanic Pistol-Carbine, and is in very good overall condition. Antique
