Description:
An Early & Desirable U.S. Civil War Issued Springfield Model 1861 Rifled Musket Dated 1862 In Excellent Untouched Condition. All original and complete. The musket has excellent metal and markings throughout. All edges are crisp and sharp. It is marked on the lock in front of the hammer with an "Eagle & U.S./SPRINGFIELD", and in back of the lock it is dated "1862". The top of the barrel is clearly marked with a "VP/EAGLE" and is also dated "1862". All of the metal on the gun has a wonderful and even natural light brown patina throughout it. All screws are also excellent. The wood on the musket is excellent plus with very crisp edges. It has a wonderful grain and color to it. The backside of the wood on the gun has two perfect original "U.S. Inspectors Cartouches" stamped on it. It has an excellent bore and action in it. This Is A Wonderful Example Of An Early & Desirable U.S. Civil War Issued Springfield Model 1861 Rifled Musket Dated 1862!
