THE COMSTOCK LODE COLT FEATURES TWO LINKED CYLINDER BANDS OF 22 GAUGE SOLID SILVER WIRE INLAY. THE BARREL IS ENHANCED WITH ANTIQUE SILVER SCROLLWORK AND TEXT, COMSTOCK LODE. LIMITED TO 50 REVOLVERS.
COMSTOCK LODE WAS PROBABLY THE GREATEST SINGLE MINERAL STRIKE IN HISTORY. MORE DRAMATICALLY THAN IN CALIFORNIA, THE PEOPLE WHO GREW WEALTHY OFF THE LODE‚‚S IMMENSE TROVE OF SILVER WERE THE SPECULATORS, THE DEVELOPERS, THE ENTERPRISING MIDDLEMEN. SILVER WORTH OVER $400 MILLION MADE VIRGINIA CITY, NEVADA, THE SECOND LARGEST CITY IN THE WEST IN 1860. THIS REVOLVER CAME FROM AN ESTATE WITH A LARGE QUANTITY OF VERY HIGH-QUALITY FIREARMS THAT SEEM TO HAVE LOW PRODUCTION. RECENTLY AT THE NOVEMBER 2023 TULSA GUN SHOW (LARGEST GUN SHOW IN THE WORLD WITH SIX MILES OF TABLES!) WE SAW ONE ON A TABLE FOR $8500, I ASKED THE TABLE HOLDER HOW HE ARRIVED AT HIS PRICE, HE SAID HE HAD THE CHEAPEST ONE IN THE SHOW. AFTER SEARCHING WE FOUND ONE IN ADDITION FOR $10,000. I WAS WALKING PAST THE $8500 GUYS TABLE, HE SOLD IT! WHEN I WAS LEAVING, I TRIED TO FIND THE $10,000 GUN, I COULD NOT FIND IT. THE MOST COMMON PRICES THAT I HAVE SEEN ONLINE, HOUSES AND PRIVATE SELLERS IS $4000 TO $6500. WITH PRODUCTION NUMBERS SO LOW, IT IS VERY HARD TO PRICE THESE RARE BIRDS.
