Description:
Presented is a clean Kimber Pro Carry SLE 1911 pistol in .45 ACP caliber. Designed by John Browning, the M1911 is the best-known of his designs to use the short recoil principle in its basic design. The pistol was widely copied, and this operating system rose to become the preeminent type of the 20th century and of nearly all modern centerfire pistols. It is popular with civilian shooters in competitive events such as the International Defensive Pistol Association and International Practical Shooting Confederation. The 1911 pistol has been used by countless military and law enforcement agencies arould the world. The .45 ACP (Automatic Colt Pistol), also known as .45 Auto, .45 Automatic is a rimless straight-walled handgun cartridge designed by John Moses Browning in 1904, for use in his prototype Colt semi-automatic pistol. After successful military trials, it was adopted as the standard chambering for Colt's M1911 pistol. The round was developed due to a lack of stopping power experienced in the Moro Rebellion in places like Sulu. The issued ammunition, .38 Long Colt, had proved inadequate, motivating the search for a better cartridge. This experience and the Thompson–LaGarde Tests of 1904 led the Army and the Cavalry to decide that a minimum of .45 caliber was required in a new handgun cartridge. The SLE model was made at the request of Kimber's distributors and there were somewhere around 1300 made. The pistol is in very good condition mechanically and physically exhibiting a few light handling marks but nothing serious. Grips are checkered black rubber and are very "grippy". The barrel has a good bore with strong rifling. Slide to frame fit is very good. This fine Kimber would be an excellent concealed carry pistol where allowed by state and local laws. Box and one magazine come with the pistol.
