Description:
S&W M&P Model 547 (no dash) was made from 1980 to 1985 with about 10,720 manufactured (approx. 6486 in round butt configuration, remainder with the square butt). The 6 shot double action revolvers were fitted with either a 3 inch heavy (round butt frame) or 4 inch heavy (square butt frame) barrel, walnut Magna grips with S&W medallions on the square butt and round butt target grips with a speed loader cutout on th 3 inch frame, did not require moon clips due to a special spring-loaded finger-type extractor that engages the extractor on the cartridge, the frame has a special cartridge retainer pin in the frame above the firing pin to keep the shell casing in place during firing and a floating firing pin fitted rather than the standard (at the time) firing pin on the hammer, were built on the "K" frame, blue finished, and chambered in 9mm. Early guns were fitted with pinned barrels. This 1983 vintage Model 547 is as described and is fitted with a non-pinned 3 inch barrel built on a round butt-frame. The gun is in excellent original condition, retaining 98%+ original blue finish, with high edge wear/thinning at the muzzle and frame and minor handling marks/scratches overall. The hammer and trigger retain most all of their original color case-hardened finishes. The grips fit well and are in excellent original condition, retaining 99%+ of their original finishes, and a few very minor handling marks. The bore looks as new and the action functions the same. Sorry, no box or paper-work. A very unique Smith & Wesson 9mm revolver.
