Large Germanic Fighting Pistol
Here we present an antique Germanic Holster Pistol, made circa the 18th Century in Nuremberg, Germany. It was originally made as a flintlock and was converted to percussion circa the 1830s. This is a very long pistol crafted for martial use. It would have been something carried on the belt or in a holster on the pommel of a saddle. This one has a Nuremburg proof marking on top of the barrel. Swamped barrel in .69 caliber. Full-length stock tipped in horn. Large iron pommel.
The overall condition is good. Dark patina throughout. The action is excellent. The bore is smooth and patinated. The stock shows decades of use with a chip from the front of the lock and some damage to the fore end from the ramrod tube to the muzzle.
