Custom FN Mauser 98 .30-06. Made in Belgium by FN, action serial 22241 wears a 20-inch tapering sporter barrel (recessed crown, ramp front sight with brass-beaded blade, island express rear sight assembly (windage-adjustable, one standing and two folding leafs with sighting lines marked 100/200/300). Features include a jeweled bolt body, two-position safety, checkered bolt knob (underside) and a jeweled trigger. STOCK: Crafted from a walnut blank with bold figure, formalities include an ebony forend tip, intricate borderless wrap checkering with sculpted borders, skip-lines and diamond points, Monte Carlo comb, scalloped cheek rest with shadow line, inletted sling swivel studs and a Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad. The action is glassed at the lug/chamber area and beds on aluminum pillars. ENGRAVING: Signed by Byron Burgess, the floorplate is centered by an extraordinary reclining gold leopard bordered by gold wire and bookended by medium leafy vine triangles. The supporting pattern rolls over the action and guard with additional gold wire accents on the extractor and shroud. DIMENSIONS: Weight is 8.0 pounds and the length-of-pull is 13.75 inches. CONDITION: Clearly seldom fired (if at all), the bore is outstanding and the action still works stiff. Barrel blue is approximately 90 percent with smaller areas of rubbing and one thin scratch below the rear sight (right side). Engraving, action finishes and wood each approximate 99 percent. The price is firm and layaway is available. $4,000 plus shipping.
