Colt RARE U.S. 1877 Double Action 41 Colt Thunderer, 95% blue and case color, fire blue still on the back of the hammer and trigger and a lot of the screws 6” Barrel ejector model, Manufactured in Hartford Connecticut in 1902 on the top of the barrel is a two line Colt address and on the side of the barrel is rolled Colt D.A. 41 on the left side of the frame is the three line patent dates and horse in a circle, all matching serial number, comes with two piece original hard rubber Grips in excellent condition. Mechanically is in good condition with tight cylinder lockup in single-action. Bore is good 9+ out of 1-10 and 10 being the best. It has a little erosion here and there on the gun and out toward the end of the barrel but it still looks good and has a lot of blue and Case color. This gun was shipped to Purchasing Agent Manila, Philippine Islands in February 10, 1902 Serial Number 130914 “Antique ship right to your Door” PLEASE SEE PHOTOS FOR CONDTION
This is one of 600 Colt Model 1877 Double Action Revolvers shipped to the Philippines in 1902. They were sent to the Insular Purchasing Agent E.G. Shields in Manila as the U.S. was working to shift control of the Philippine Islands from Army to civilian control. As detailed in the included letter from Don Wilkerson, these revolvers are very seldom seen in the United States. Wilkerson had only seen four during his study of Colt revolvers. This included factory letter.
